Lanham, MD — Pineapple Press has been purchased by the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, Inc. effective July 13, 2018. Rowman & Littlefield is an independent book publisher founded in 1949 and headquartered outside Washington, D.C.

Pineapple Press was founded in 1982 by June and David Cussen. Based in Sarasota, Florida, the company is the leading publisher of books on all things Florida, including art, folklore, gardening, history, nature and travel.

Ingram Publisher Services will stop sales and distribution of all Pineapple Press books as of July 13, 2018. National Book Network (NBN), the sister company of Rowman & Littlefield, will assume sales and distribution roles as of July 14, 2018. Ingram’s CoreSource will continue to manage the company’s ebooks.

Pineapple’s list of more than 400 titles includes bestsellers such as the iconic work of historical fiction, A Land Remembered, by Patrick D. Smith which has sold more than 250,000 copies since it was first published in 1983. David and June Cussen will continue to oversee the editorial acquisition efforts for Pineapple Press until a new Florida office is opened.

Pineapple Press will become an imprint of Globe Pequot, the trade division of Rowman & Littlefield. The 70-year-old Globe Pequot imprint publishes local books on New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and West. Other regional imprints of the trade division include 50-year-old Down East Books, the leading publisher of books about Maine and Two Dot, publisher of regional books on the Rocky Mountain region. Other imprints in the Globe Pequot trade division include Falcon Guides, the leading publisher of hiking guides, Lyons Press, publisher of general nonfiction, Stackpole Books, 90 -year -old publisher of books on history, nature, crafts and fishing, and Muddy Boots Books, a children’s imprint.
