TOM OSWALD

Tom Oswald grew up in Naples, Florida. He began his involvement in the sport of cycling at age thirteen and has since participated in nearly all conceivable facets of the sport, including a cyclocross race in which he won a pound of cheddar cheese. He prepared himself for a career in the bicycling industry by studying music at Florida State University in Tallahassee. He has been known, on more than one occasion, to divest himself of all worldly possessions and take off on some hare-brained adventure, like sailing in a small boat all by himself around the Gulf of Mexico or wandering nomadically around the United States for a year, looking for interesting places to ride his bike. In the process of researching for this, his first book, he spent months searching for the finest riding in all corners of the state, logging thousands of miles on a bicycle he made by hand. He has since settled down and, much to the relief of his family, resumed gainful employment at a bicycle shop in Greensboro, North Carolina.
