On the southern border of Pasco County, just before the river goes into Hillsborough County, is the town of Crystal Springs (population: about 1,500), which takes its name from the nearby springs, which produce about forty million gallons (mgd) of clear water each day. Added to that is another thirty mgd from Blackwater Creek and nineteen mgd from the Hillsborough as it comes out of the Green Swamp. The Thomas Family, mentioned above, in the 1980s owned Crystal Springs Recreational Preserve, Inc., which partnered with Zephyrhills Natural Spring Water Company to produce bottled water, which became the official bottled water of theme parks like EPCOT and Disney World.
